Jason DeBenedictis Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's sophomore attackman Jason DeBenedictis has been named to his first-career BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
The Holbrook, N.Y., native registered a total of eight goals and two assists in 1-1 week for St. John's, including back-to-back games with a career-high four goals.
On Wednesday, March 2, DeBenedictis helped the St. John's attack get off to a quick start, notching a hat trick in the first half at Saint Joseph's. Not only was the attackman successful finding the back of the net, but DeBenedictis also picked up a career-high five groundballs on the day.
In St. John's 10-9 victory over Siena on Saturday, March 5, the sophomore would again notch a first half hat trick. DeBenedictis scored four goals and added two assists for a career-high six-point day, helping the Johnnies earn its first victory in 2016.
As of March 7, DeBenedictis finds himself near the top of multiple conference and national statistical rankings. DeBenedictis is second in the BIG EAST with 3.20 goals per game and fourth with 3.80 points per game. His 3.20 goals per game rank 12th-best in NCAA Division I and 3.80 points per game are tied-34th.

St. John's travels to New Haven, Conn., on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. midweek matchup against the No. 4 Yale Bulldogs.
