QUEENS, N.Y. - Making her collegiate debut this past Friday, Erica Di Maulo was impressive at the setter position and was named to BIG EAST Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
St. John's opened the 2016 campaign at the Bryant Hampton Inn-vitational and picked up two sweeps over BIG Ten program Rutgers and host-school Bryant. Di Maulo played an integral role in the Red Storm's two victories averaging 11.6 assists per set and 2.83 digs per set.
In the season-opening match against Rutgers, Di Maulo recorded a match-high 39 assists, while tacking on eight digs good for second-most on the team. Her splendid setting ability helped Julia Cast and Margherita Bianchin register 12 kills apiece.
The native of Milan, Italy, dished out 31 of the team's 35 assists in the match against Bryant and also registered a match-high nine digs. Her attacking skills were also on display notching four kills with a perfect attacking percentage. She was one of just six players named to the All-Tournament Team at the Bryant Hampton Inn-vitational.
UP NEXT
St. John's will stay on the road when it takes on in-state foe Iona on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Hynes Athletic Center.
The Red Storm is undefeated all-time against the Gaels with an 8-0 record.
