QUEENS, N.Y. - After leading the Red Storm to a dominant defensive effort this past weekend down in Maryland, Anna Maria Baldursdottir has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced this afternoon by the league office.
The selection marks the first of her career for Baldursdottir, who was a member of both the 2016 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and the 2015 BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
In a pair of ties this weekend against Towson and Loyola Maryland, the Red Storm (2-0-2) surrendered only one goal in 220 minutes and allowed just five shots in total. Baldursdottir, a sophomore from Gardabaer, Iceland, was on the field for every one of those 220 minutes. She also made her presence felt on the offensive end, registering an assist on Christina Bellero's goal against the Greyhounds.
In four games to start the season, the Red Storm has allowed only one tally and has compiled a stellar goals against average of 0.22.
St. John's will conclude its three-game road swing on Friday, traveling to New Haven, Conn., for a 7 p.m. showdown against Yale. The Red Storm will then return home on Sunday night to host Fairfield at 7:30 p.m.
