BIG EAST Release
QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's attackman Joe Madsen earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday, thanks to a career-high four goal effort against Marquette this past weekend.
This marks the second BIG EAST distinction for the freshman this season as Madsen has enjoyed a breakout inaugural campaign with the Johnnies. The Locust Valley, N.Y., native was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week in March.
Madsen tallied four goals on just five shots in the Red Storm's road loss to Marquette on Saturday. The attackman tallied three first half goals and added one more in the second half, to bring his season total to a team-leading 13 goals. Madsen has also tallied five assists and leads the team with 18 points in 11 games played.
Next Saturday, April 15, St. John's will host BIG EAST foe No. 4/4 Denver in the Red Storm's last home game of the season at DaSilva Memorial Field at 1 p.m. Prior to the contest, the senior class will be honored with an on-field ceremony.
