St. John’s finishes tenth, Howard finishes nineteenth overall
The St. John's cross country team placed tenth at the 2018 BIG EAST Championships hosted by Butler University.
Ant Howard led the Red Storm with an All-Conference performance finishing in 19th place with a time of 21:37.8.
"Our ladies gave it a good go today as Ant Howard got into the top 20 to earn All-Big East honors," Head Coach Jim Hurt said.
Stephanie Gerland was the next finisher for the Red Storm with a 50th place finish at the event for the second-consecutive season with a time of 23:21.3.
"The pace was fast but our ladies went with it," Hurt said. "That type of competitiveness was great to see and I am very proud of those efforts."
Shannon Page and Jackie Gallagher followed for the Johnnies. Page finished her final cross country BIG EAST Championship with a time of 24:34.3, while Gallagher ended with a 24:53.4. Page joined Howard as the lone seniors in the event for St. John's.
"Our seniors finished their Big East careers with great efforts and our younger runners gained valuable experience running at the Big East level," Hurt said.
