55-game slate will feature 10 contests in California
QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's Baseball Head Coach Ed Blankmeyer has revealed the schedule for his 24th season at the helm of the Red Storm program, a slate that includes significant time on the West Coast and matchups against a pair of recent College World Series participants.

The 55-game slate features matchups with four teams that made appearances in the NCAA Field of 64 last season, three of whom were conference champions.

Fresh off the team's ninth BIG EAST Championship in 2018, the Red Storm will kick off the 2019 season in The City of Angels, taking on 2013 national champion UCLA in a three-game set at Jackie Robinson Stadium beginning on Feb. 15. UCLA, who finished 38-21 and advanced to finals of the NCAA Minneapolis Regional last season, returns plenty of talent from a 2018 squad that placed fourth in the final Pac 12 standings. Five UCLA student-athletes found themselves ranked in the Top 150 of D1Baseball latest 2019 MLB Draft prospect rankings.

After returning from Southern California, the Red Storm will head south to Cullowhee, N.C., for a three-game series against Western Carolina beginning on Feb. 22. The Johnnies and the Catamounts will meet for the fourth time in the last four seasons, a stretch that has seen the Red Storm go 3-0 against Western Carolina with a combined scoring advantage of 37-7.

The Red Storm will then head back to the West Coast for a 10-day spring break trip, which will kick off in San Diego on March 1 with a three-game set against the Toreros of USD. The Johnnies will then play a midweek matchup against Cal State Northridge on Tuesday, March 5, before beginning another three-game series at UC Irvine, a 2014 College World Series participant, on March 8.

The Red Storm will return to the East Coast for a Wednesday afternoon contest with Iona on March 13 in New Rochelle before kicking off a stretch of seven-straight home games in mid March.

Beginning on March 15, the Red Storm will welcome Big 12 foe Kansas to Jack Kaiser Stadium for a three-game series. The Johnnies will look to enact some revenge on the Jayhawks, who swept the Red Storm in Lawrence last year.

Following a home midweek contest with Marist on Tuesday, March 19, the Johnnies will welcome local foe Hofstra to Queens for three games beginning on March 22.

At the conclusion of its seven-game homestand, the Red Storm will hit the road for four straight, traveling to Fairfield on Wednesday, March 27, before heading Saint Louis University for a three-game set with the Billikens beginning on March 29. The reigning Atlantic 10 Championships, SLU turned in a record of 38-20 last season that included an appearance in the NCAA Oxford Regional.

The Red Storm will host a pair of local foes the following week, welcoming Saint Peter's on Tuesday, April 2, before Columbia comes to The Jack on Wednesday, April 3.

The Johnnies will then kick off the BIG EAST portion of their schedule on the road for the third-straight season, heading to Indianapolis for a three-game series with Butler starting on April 5.

After taking on the Bulldogs, the Red Storm will return to New York for its longest stretch of the season, playing 10-straight in the New York Metro Area. Nine of those contests will be held at The Jack. The Johnnies will kick off that span with a pair of midweek contests in Queens, welcoming Albany on Tuesday, April 9, before hosting LIU Brooklyn on Wednesday, April 10. St. John's will then undertake its first home series of BIG EAST play on April 12 when Xavier comes to town for three games.

Following a Tuesday afternoon matchup with Fairleigh Dickinson on April 16 at The Jack, the Red Storm will play Villanova in a modified weekend series. The set will kick off on Thursday, April 18, with a 1 p.m. matchup at St. John's. The two teams will then play on Friday, April 19, at Angelo Lorenzo Memorial Field on the campus on NYIT in Old Westbury with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. The Johnnies and Wildcats will then close their series on Saturday, April 20, with a 1 p.m. matchup at Jack Kaiser Stadium.

The Red Storm will conclude its Big Apple stretch with a game against Stony Brook on Tuesday, April 23, at The Jack, marking the first meeting between the two schools since 2013.

The Johnnies will then resume BIG EAST play with a trip to the nation's capital, taking on the Hoyas of Georgetown in a three-game series beginning on April 26.

Following a home matchup with Iona and a road tilt at FDU in the midweek, St. John's will play a split three-game weekend series with Princeton. The Red Storm will host the first two contests of the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 4, before the two teams meet for a third and final time the following day in The Garden State.

The Red Storm will close out the midweek portion of its campaign with a Tuesday afternoon contest against Wagner on May 7 before capping the 2019 regular season with six-straight conference tilts. The Johnnies will travel to TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, the home of the College World Series, for three games with Creighton beginning on May 10 before welcoming Seton Hall to The Jack for a trio of tilts beginning on May 16. The Red Storm and the Pirates will renew their rivalry for the first time since the Johnnies claimed victory over The Hall in the decisive game of last year's BIG EAST Baseball Championship.

The 2019 BIG EAST Baseball Championship will be held for the second-straight year at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, beginning on Thursday, May 23.
