Navy Takes Game One of Intrasquad World Series, 4-2

Game two set for Thursday afternoon
The St. John's baseball team's annual Intrasquad World Series kicked off on Wednesday afternoon at Jack Kaiser Stadium, as Navy took the first game, 4-2, from Red in seven innings.
Brian Hendry and Chris Stefl combined to throw seven innings of two-run ball in the win, only one which was earned. Stefl tossed three scoreless frames while both hurlers struck out three batters.
Ryan Hogan drove in a pair of runs for Navy, both of which came on sac flies.
Stefl scored Navy's first run in the second, leading off the frame with a walk before coming around to score on an error and a wild pitch.
Tommy Papadopolous and Peter Abinanti led off the fourth with back-to-back singles before coming around to score later in the frame. Hogan knocked in Papadopolous with a sac fly before Abinanti scored on a wild pitch.
Hogan added another sac fly in the sixth to help seal the win for Navy.
Rudy Aguilar drove in a run for Red, ripping an RBI double in the third. Mike Antico and Mitchell Henshaw also recorded extra-base hits on the afternoon.
Game two is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
