Matt Hanley Swipes BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Merit

QUEENS, N.Y. - After another sparkling performance in-between the pipes, senior goalkeeper Matt Hanley was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll announced by the conference office on Monday.
Hanley was a force for the Johnnies (6-7, 0-4 BIG EAST) in the showdown with No. 16/15 Villanova (9-4, 2-2 BIG EAST) on Saturday, turning aside a season-high 17 shots in a 10-8 defeat to the Wildcats.
The 17 saves are the most in a St. John's uniform for the senior and the most by a BIG EAST goalkeeper this season. Hanley also collected five groundballs and forced a pair of turnovers.
The Bethpage, N.Y., native has played all but 2:38 in goal this season for the Johnnies, amassing a 9.91 goals against average and a conference-leading .527 save percentage. Hanley's 11.08 saves per game also tops the BIG EAST and sits 16th in the country.
St. John's closes out the regular season on Saturday against BIG EAST rival Georgetown. Action begins at 1 p.m. and can be seen live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) presented by SoFi.
