St. John’s field athlete earns BIG EAST honor for the second-straight week

QUEENS, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2019) – Jumper Ja'Tae Joyner captured St. John's second-straight BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week accolade on Tuesday afternoon after securing personal records in the triple jump and long jump at the Lions Indoor Invitational.
The Bowie, Md. native finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 11.79m on Saturday at the New Balance Track & Field Armory in Manhattan. The freshman's personal-best distance placed her first among all BIG EAST competitors and second among Met schools.
She followed up her triple jump with a long jump of 5.67m for a third-place finish in the event. Joyner's mark was good enough for second-best among BIG EAST athletes.
The Red Storm will next be in action at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Penn Select on Saturday, Jan. 12.
