Jessica Livianu Earns BIG EAST Athlete of the Week Honor

QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team received its first weekly award of the year as Jessica Livianu was named the BIG EAST Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Tuesday following a perfect weekend in both singles and doubles play to help lead her team to a pair of victories.
"Jessica had an extremely solid performance this past weekend," said head coach Lauren Leo. "It's exciting to have one of our players recognized by the BIG EAST Conference early in the season," added Leo.
The two-time reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year had a stellar week on the tennis court, as she finished with a perfect 3-0 record in singles play.
On Friday, the junior posted two straight-set victories, (6-0, 6-0) against Marist and a (6-0, 6-1) against Wagner (2/1). On Sunday, Feb. 3, she picked up St. John's lone singles win against Dartmouth in straight sets, (6-1, 6-1).
The Brooklyn native also went 3-0 in doubles matches this past week with Najah Dawson as her partner.
St. John's resumes play on Friday, Feb. 8, when the Red Storm takes LIU-Brooklyn and Fairleigh Dickinson in a tri-match starting at noon.
