Women’s Golf Set to Compete at Pinehurst Women’s Intercollegiate

The Johnnies will tee off starting at 8:40 a.m. on March 13
The St. John's women's golf team travels to Pinehurst, N.C., for the three-day Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate on March 13-15.
Andrea Sanchez will enter the tournament as the Johnnies' number one golfer while Jessie Kweon and Kaitleen Shee are slotted in the second and third positions. Alejandra Sanchez and Linda Wang will round out the lineup for the Red Storm. Lydia Kim will be competing as an individual to comprise the St. John's travel squad.
The Red Storm is coming off of a fifth-place showing after carding a combined 915 (303-312-300) at the Lady Cat Invitational on March 7-8 at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Andrea Sanchez and Kweon led the way for the Johnnies in their first tournament of the spring, turning in a three-round total of 226 each to finish in a tie for 19th place.
St. John's will tee off starting at 8:40 a.m. on the par-72, 6,053-yard course and will be joined by UNC Asheville, Boston University, Cleveland State, Dayton, South Hampshire and Yale.
Since 1898, Pinehurst has hosted more championships than any other club in the country. The majestic pines that line the courses have had the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Payne Stewart and many other legends walk its fairways. It is also set to be the site of the 2024 U.S. Open Championship.
