St. John’s Men’s Golf Finished Seventh at the Yale Spring Invitational

Gerald Mackedon paced the way for the Red Storm
Junior Gerald Mackedon garnered his fourth top-15 finish of the season at the Yale Spring Invitational, while the St. John's men's golf team turned in a seventh-place showing on Saturday at The Course at Yale.
Mackedon opened the day with a first-round 69, highlighted by five birdies draining four of them on the back nine. The Port Jefferson native closed out the event with a final-round 73 to finish in a five-way tie for 14th.
Freshman Jack Simon tied for 23rd at four-over 144, carding an opening-round 73 followed by a 71. Senior Austin Briggs sat one stroke off Simon, turning in scores of 73 and 72 on the day.
Dublin native Ross Moore fired a 72 and 74 at the event to finish inside the top half of the standings. Andrew Baek and Tyler Gerbavsits rounded out scoring for the Red Storm, as Baek carded a 73 and 74, while Gerbavsits turned in a pair of 74s.
Host school Yale claimed the team title with a two-round score of 711 (+11), while Siena's Jack Brown earned medalist honors, carding a six-under par over 36 holes of play.
St. John's will play its final regular-season tournament in Annapolis, Md., as the Johnnies gear up for the Navy Spring Invitational on April 19-20.
