Red Storm Wraps Up Regular Season at Navy Spring Invitational

The St. John's men's golf team will begin its final tournament of the regular season starting Friday when the team travels to Annapolis, Md., for the Navy Spring Invitational at the Naval Academy Golf Club.

Golfers will tee off in a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on the par-71 6,611-yard course on Friday for the first 18 holes, before playing the final round on Saturday.

After earning his fourth top-15 finish at the Yale Spring Invitational last weekend, Gerald Mackedon enters the tournament in the No. 1 slot for St. John's. Austin Briggs will be playing as the No. 2 golfer while Ross Moore, Andrew Baek and Tyler Gerbavsits round out the five-man lineup. Matthew Sweeney will be playing as an individual.

The 14-team field will consist of Binghamton, Fairleigh Dickinson, Lafayette, La Salle, Lehigh, LIU Brooklyn, Methodist College, Mount St. Mary's, Navy Blue and Navy Gold squads, Saint Francis, St. Francis Brooklyn, St. John's and Saint Joseph's.

The Naval Academy Golf Club is a private, university golf course owned by the Naval Academy. It is operated by the Naval Academy Golf Association (NAGA), which is affiliated with the Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA). NAGA originally owned a nine-hole course established in 1916 which was adjacent to the Naval Academy Yard. However, the current golf course was acquired by the Naval Academy around 1939, when it was redesigned by renowned architect William Flynn.
