Men’s Golf Ties for Fifth at Navy Spring Invitational

Ross Moore leads the way for the Red Storm
Behind a strong individual performance by Ross Moore, the St. John's men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth place at the Naval Academy Golf Club.
Moore drained six birdies over 36 holes, to turn in a pair of 74s and close out play in a tie for 11th place, leading the way for the St. John's five-man lineup.
Junior Gerald Mackedon also carded a 74 on the day to finish at 149 and in a tie for 15th place. Freshman Tyler Gerbavsits carded a 76 and 77 to finish at 153 and in a tie for 29th place.
Seniors Austin Briggs and Andrew Baek rounded out scoring for the Red Storm, each carding a 79 on the day. Classmate Matthew Sweeney competed individually, firing a final-round 81 to sign for a combined 156.
Lafayette won the team title at the Navy Spring Invitational, carding a two-day score of 591 (+23). Binghamton's Ryan Rodriguez claimed medalist honors.
St. John's will be back in action on April 26 when it begins play at the BIG EAST Championship.
