The 54-hole tournament will begin each day at 8 a.m.
The St. John's men's golf team will head to Callawassie Island, S.C., this weekend to compete in the BIG EAST Championship held at the Callawassie Island Golf Club April 26-28.
Â
Play in the 54-hole tournament will begin each day at 8 a.m. on the Dogwood and Magnolia Courses. The BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) will provide coverage of the final rounds.
Â
Junior Gerald Mackedon leads the Red Storm into the conference championship for the second-straight season. The Port Jefferson native has been consistently strong for the Johnnies over the 2018-19 campaign, producing five top-15 finishes, including medalist honors at the Patriot Intercollegiate. The junior capped off the regular season with a team-best 74.56 stroke average.
Â
Seniors Ross Moore, Andrew Baek and Austin Briggs alongside freshman Tyler Gerbavsits  will round out the lineup for the Johnnies.
Â
Last season at the BIG EAST Championship, St. John's finished eighth overall. The team was fueled by Moore, who shot a combined 226 (+10) to claim 12th place.
Â
In 2014 the Johnnies earned the BIG EAST team title for the 10th time in program history. Dylan Crowley received the team's most recent individual title in 2015, after winning in a three-hole playoff.
Â
Marquette is the No. 1 seed going into the BIG EAST Championship, for the third-straight year. Seton Hall is ranked second followed by reigning conference champion Georgetown. Butler enters as the fourth seed, with Xavier DePaul and St. John's slotted fifth, sixth and seventh. Creighton and Villanova round out the rankings, sitting eighth and ninth in the standings.
Â
The team winner will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship field. Should the individual champion not be a member of the winning team, he will also earn a spot to the NCAA Championship.
Â
Results from each round of the event will be provided following the conclusion of each day and posted on RedStormSports.com as well as GolfStat.com.
