Briggs Leads St. John’s at Wildcat Spring Invitational

Austin Briggs finished the tournament at one-under par
Senior Austin Briggs carded a two-under 69 on the final day of the Wildcat Spring Invitational on Tuesday, finishing the tournament at one-under par to propel himself into a tie for 18th place at the event.
Briggs' low round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five sixth hole and also featured a pair of birdies in a stretch of five holes on the front nine.
Ross Moore posted a 72, while Andrew Baek and Gerald Mackedon both turned in final-round scores of 76. Freshman Tyler Gerbavsits rounded out the scoring for St. John's, registering a 78.
Drexel eared the team title for the second year turning in a two-round 17-under par. Trailing the Dragons were Akron (-8), Cleveland State and Delaware (-7), Lafayette (-1), Colgate (+2), Rhode Island (+6), Monmouth (+10), Binghamton (+12), Iona and Saint Peter's (+13), Siena (+15), Lehigh (+16), La Salle (+17), Villanova and St. John's (+21), Bucknell (+22), St. Bonaventure (+27), Fordham (+28), and Wagner (+59).
Drexel's Connor Schmidt claimed medalist honors, finishing with a score of 11-under par, to sit three-shots ahead of second place Matt Pulgini of Delaware.
The Johnnies will return to action on Saturday, April 13, traveling to New Haven, Conn., for the Yale Spring Invitational.
