Jack Kaiser Golf Classic Set for July 22

Annual baseball fundraiser to be held once again at Cherry Valley Club
QUEENS, N.Y. (June 5, 2019) – Honoring the accomplishments of St. John's baseball greats past and present, the annual Jack Kaiser Golf Classic will be held on Monday, July 22, at Cherry Valley Club in Garden City.
The event, which celebrates the proud history of the program and welcomes back alumni and supporters from across the decades, will recognize Bob Hirschfield '70C, '75 GED and Mike Fahid '01 ED, '13GCPS with the Coach Jack Kaiser Baseball Advocate Award, the highest honor presented to an alumnus, benefactor, friend, parent or fan of St. John's Baseball. Additionally, the affair will honor the 2012 Red Storm squad that won the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament titles before advancing to the first Super Regional in school history.
Hirschfield began his St. John's career in 1968 with an appearance in the College World Series. The former pitcher and outfielder began a long collegiate coaching career at NYIT in 1982, leading the Bears for 29 years before retiring after the 2011 season. Upon his retirement, Hirschfield has transitioned into the broadcasting booth, serving as a color commentator for the Red Storm's home games on ESPN3 and RedStormSports.com.
Fahid, a three-year player for the Red Storm from 1998-00, has been a consistent presence in the baseball program over the last two decades. Currently an assistant dean in the Tobin College of Business and an adjunct professor in the sport management department, Fahid is also the assistant director of the Red Storm's summer baseball camp program.
The 2012 team is the most decorated of the modern era at St. John's, claiming the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament titles before sweeping the Chapel Hill Regional and becoming the first Red Storm squad to earn a berth in the Super Regional round. At the conclusion of the season, five St. John's players heard their names called in the MLB Draft, including four in the first six rounds.
The day will begin with brunch and registration starting at 11 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. A reception will then begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and a silent auction an hour later.
Individual golf packages begin at $400 while dinner-only packages start at $200 per person. Graduates of the last decade are eligible for a $25 discount to either package.
