St. John’s Closes Out Day One of the Princeton Invitational

Kaitleen Shee leads the Red Storm at even-par 72
PRINCETON, N.J. (Sept. 28, 2019) – The St. John's women's golf team finished day one of the Princeton Invitational, posting a 18-hole total of 305 to stand in ninth place at the Course at Yale on Saturday.
BIG EAST rival Seton Hall paced the field with a five-under 283 through the first 18 holes, eight strokes ahead of second place University of Pennsylvania. Ami Gianchandani of Yale holds the individual lead with a score of five-under 67.
As an individual, sophomore Kaitleen Shee paced the Red Storm through the opening 18 holes, shooting an even-par 72. The Irvine, Calif., native birdied in four of the first nine holes before going nearly bogey-free on the back nine to sit in a tie for eighth place.
Checking in behind Shee was Linda Wang who shot a one-over 73 to tie for 11th in the competition. The senior sank birdies on the third, 12th and 17th holes to wrap up round one.
Freshmen Cloe Clocchiatti and Jill Beglin sat in the middle of the pack after the opening round concluded. Clocchiatti, as an individual, completed Saturday's frame in a tie for 25th place at three-over 75 while Beglin finished at four-over 76, good for 34th place.
Junior Andrea Sanchez entered the clubhouse behind the freshmen duo, turning in a 76 on the day. Jessie Kweon finished her afternoon by shooting a 79 while Laia Barro rounded out the Johnnies' leaderboard with an 82.
The Red Storm will return to the Springdale Golf Course tomorrow morning for the final round of play. Tee times can be found by clicking here.
