St. John’s Men’s Golf to Kick Off Spring Schedule in Sunshine State

The Johnnies will begin their spring slate at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate
The St. John's men's golf team kicks off its spring season on Monday, traveling to the Sunshine State for the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate March 2-3.
The Johnnies finished strong during the fall campaign, claiming medalist honors at the inaugural Red Storm Invitational before turning in a third-place finish at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship. Senior Gerald Mackedon led the way for the Johnnies at both tournaments, turning in a 71 over 18 holes to earn co-medalist honors at the Red Storm Invitational. The Port Jefferson, N.Y., native wrapped up the fall season with a 72 to finish ninth at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship.
Sophomore Jack Simon will enter the tournament as the Johnnies' number one golfer, while freshman Alex Kyriacou and sophomore Tyler Gerbavsits are slotted in the second and third positions. Mackedon and freshman Ryan Rittberger will round out the five-man lineup for St. John's.
The 14-team field will include host school Loyola Maryland along with St. John's, Connecticut, Davidson, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, George Mason, Lynn, Mercer, South Florida, Towson, Utah Valley, Villanova and Western Carolina
Tee times are set for 8:45 a.m. Live stats will be available via Golfstat.
