St. John’s Mourns the Passing of Ed Lawrence

Lawrence was a former team manager and longtime supporter of the Johnnies
QUEENS, N.Y. (July 22, 2020) – The St. John's baseball program, along with the entire athletic department and University family, mourns the passing of Ed Lawrence.
Lawrence, a 2010 recipient of the Coach Jack Kaiser Baseball Advocate Award, was the team's manager from 1964 to 1968, helping the Redmen make a pair of appearances in the College World Series in 1966 and 1968.
A double alumnus of St. John's, he earned his MBA in finance in 1972 before going on to later serve 17 years as the Chief Investment Officer at Roosevelt Savings Bank. Lawrence also gave back to his alma mater by teaching economics.
Lawrence, who served as a member of the St. John's Baseball Advisory Committee, was a longtime financial supporter of the program through his generous contributions to the Red White Club.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, July 29, at Macken Funeral Home in Rockville Centre from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held the following day at 10:45 a.m. at St. Agnes Cathedral.
