Jessica Livianu Earns Preseason Oracle/ITA Recognition

Red Storm graduate student ranked no. 59 nationally in preseason singles rankings
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's women's tennis player Jessica Livianu came in at no. 59 on the Oracle ITA Division I preseason top 125 women's rankings, the ITA announced late last week.
The recognition comes following a strong senior season, as Livianu finished the truncated campaign with a perfect 13-0 record during dual-match play. The Brooklyn native finished the season with 12 straight-set victories and captured a BIG EAST Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Award on Feb. 11.
"It's such an honor to be recognized as a top ranked collegiate player and I'm really excited to start my last season as a Johnnie like this," said Livianu. "It has been such an amazing journey with many ups and downs, and I really hope to finish strong on an up with my wonderful St. John's family around me. I'm grateful now more than ever to have the opportunity to compete and do what I love most with people who are just as passionate as me."
Livianu enters her fifth year with the program already as one of the most decorated women's tennis players in St. John's history. The former U.S. Juniors National competition singles champion was named BIG EAST Player of the Year in her freshman, sophomore and junior campaigns. Over that three-year span, Livianu accumulated an overall record of 51-3, while going a perfect 24-0 against conference opponents. Her career mark overall stands at 64-3.
"It's great to see Jessica starting off the 2021 spring season with an ITA ranking of 59," said women's tennis head coach Lauren Leo. "She is a tremendous asset to the team, and we are proud of her accomplishments. Her hard work and dedication have continued to elevate her game, and I am excited to see what this season has in store for her."
