The St. John's women's basketball program will continue its 2021-22 slate on Sunday with a visit to Stony Brook for the 2 p.m. meeting with the Seawolves.
The game is set to air on ESPN3 with Sam Neidermann and Rob Pavinelli on the call from Island Federal Arena.
The Johnnies enter Sunday's contest on the heels of an 89-68 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday in the team's home opener.
Detroit Mich., native Rayven Peeples led the way for St. John's against the Knights, pouring in a career-high 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor. Peeples also pulled down seven rebounds, tying teammate Danielle Patterson for a game-high.
Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Leilani Correa also eclipsed the 20-point plateau in Wednesday's contest, pouring in 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor, including a 3-of-5 mark from three-point range. The Manchester, N.J., native has finished with 20 or more points in six of her last 12 games dating back to last season.
Senior guard Kadaja Bailey also put forth a stellar effort in St. John's contest with FDU, turning in 16 points and five rebounds. Graduate student Camree Clegg dished out a team-high six assists against the Knights.
As a team, the Johnnies' 89 points were the most for the squad since they drained 96 against Army on Dec. 9, 2019.
Wednesday's matchup between Stony Brook and St. John's marks the 10th all-time meeting between the two programs and the first in over a decade. The Johnnies lead the all-time series, 8-1, coming out victorious in their last five meetings.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Ashley Langford, the Seawolves are currently 2-0 on the season with wins over Delaware State and Longwood.
Prior to the start of the season, Stony Brook was picked as the preseason favorite in the America East Coaches' Poll. Graduate forward India Pagan and senior guard Anastasia Warren were both tabbed to the Preseason All-Conference Team.
Following Sunday's matchup with Stony Brook, St. John's will continue its two-game road swing with a trip to Philadelphia for a 7 p.m. meeting with Temple.
