St. John’s Announces 2021-22 Indoor Track & Field Schedule

The Red Storm will compete in 10 indoor meets this season
QUEENS, N.Y.- Director of Track & Field Aliann Pompey has announced the 2021-22 indoor track & field schedule, the program's first full slate of indoor meets in two years. The Red Storm will compete in 10 events this season after only participating in just two during 2020-21.
St. John's will host the Bill Ward Invitational at Ocean Breeze on Staten Island to open the new campaign on Dec. 4. This marks the second year that the meet will be held at Ocean Breeze.
The Johnnies will take an extended break before returning to Staten Island on Saturday, Jan. 15, for the Penn Select. Two years ago, senior sprinter Leah Anderson set a new personal best in the 60-meter dash and led the Red Storm to a sixth-place finish.
St. John's will compete in a third-straight meet at Ocean Breeze two days later when the Johnnies take part in the MLK Memorial Meet on Jan. 17. Five days later, the Red Storm will split between Ocean Breeze and The Armory when it takes part in the Villanova Indoor Meet on Jan. 22. This marks the first time the Johnnies will race in Villanova's home meet since 2016 when it earned a fourth-place finish.
The Red Storm will return to action Thursday, Jan. 26 and Friday, Jan. 27 when it competes in the Metropolitan Championships on Staten Island and the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston, respectively.
The Johnnies will then ready for three straight meets at The Armory, starting with the Millrose Games on Saturday, Jan. 29. In 2019, the 4x400 relay team represented well and took home the victory in the 113th running of the historic event. St. John's will wrap up its three-meet stint at The Armory with the Columbia Challenge on Feb. 4 and the Rutgers Invitational on Feb. 11.
Two weeks later, St. John's will travel to Chicago to race against the best in the conference at the BIG EAST Championships on Feb. 25.
Coach Pompey's squad will conclude the indoor portion of the track & field season with the ECAC Championships on Friday, March 4, in Boston and the NCAA Championships on Friday, March 11.
