Red Storm Continues BIG EAST Play at Seton Hall

The two contests between the Johnnies and Pirates will begin at 5 p.m.
QUEENS, N.Y. (March 11, 2021) – The St. John's volleyball team will continue BIG EAST play this Friday and Saturday when the Johnnies travel across the Hudson to face Seton Hall at Walsh Gymnasium.
The two meetings between the Johnnies and Pirates will kick off at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast live on shupirates.com.
The Red Storm (5-3, 1-2 BIG EAST) enters Friday's contest in pursuit of its second conference win after falling to Villanova in four sets on Wednesday night at Carnesecca Arena.
Efrosini Alexakou posted a match-high 21 kills against the Wildcats while collecting 13 digs. The junior outside hitter has recorded four straight double-doubles for the Johnnies. Alexakou has notched a double-double in five of the team's eight matches this season.
Rachele Rastelli tallied 14 kills and four digs in the Red Storm's match with Villanova. The junior right-side hitter earned her third straight selection to the league's weekly honor roll on March 9 after registering her second consecutive 25-kill match in St. John's four-set win at Rhode Island. Rastelli sits in first place on the BIG EAST leaderboard with 4.48 kills per set.
Tiziana Baumrukova ranks sixth in the nation with a conference-leading 11.68 assists per set. The senior has dished out at least 40 helpers in six matches for the Johnnies. Baumrukova led both teams with 49 assists against the Wildcats.
Seton Hall (3-1, 1-1 BIG EAST) enters this weekend coming off a three-set loss to Providence on March 6. The Pirates also defeated the Friars in five sets on March 5 to secure their first conference win of the season.
Freshman Tsvetelina Ilieva was named the league's freshman of the week on March 9 after averaging 3.12 kills, 1.50 digs, 0.88 blocks and 3.81 points per set across the team's two matches against Providence.
Outside hitter Perri Lucas also earned freshman of the week honors on March 2, ranking fourth among the conference leaders with 4.08 kills per set and 4.54 points per set.
Lucas leads the Pirates with 73 kills this spring while sophomore libero Raygan Murray ranks first on the team with 83 digs.
