Freshman Angelica Kusnowo places second overall
For the second-straight event of the spring season, the St. John's women's golf team finished atop the standings, claiming the team title at the FDU Knights Shootout on Sunday.
"I am so happy for the team and getting another victory at the Knights Shootout," Head Coach Ambry Bishop-Santillo said. "The spring conditions continue to be tough and even though we struggled a little coming in, we stayed patient and pulled out the victory."
Freshman Angelica Kusnowo led the way for the Red Storm, carding a 75 to place second overall at the event.
"It was great to see Angelica play well today," Bishop-Santillo said. "She has worked very hard since her arrival in January and has shown many bright spots in our practices. She is a great addition to our talented squad."
Three other Johnnies finished inside the top-10 at Watchung Valley Country Club. Senior Linda Wang and junior Andrea Sanchez, who were slotted as the number one a two golfers heading into the event, finished in a tie for fifth. Wang and Sanchez both turned in a 78 on the afternoon.
Junior Jessie Kweon finished one-stroke back of Wang and Sanchez, signing off on a 79 to place ninth overall.
