The Johnnies will tee off at 8 a.m. on Monday
The St. John's women's golf team travels to Pinehurst, N.C., for the two-day Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate on March 29-30.
The Red Storm enters the three-round 54-hole event on the heels of back-to-back team titles to open the 2021 spring slate. Most recently, the Johnnies came away victorious at the FDU Shootout, as freshman Angelica Kusnowo led the way for St. John's, carding a 75 to finish in a tie for second.
Kusnowo, a product from Chino Hills, Calif., will enter the tournament as the Johnnies' number one golfer while graduate student Linda Wang and senior Andrea Sanchez are slotted in the second and third positions. Junior Jessie Kweon and sophomore Cloe Clocchiatti will round out the lineup for the Red Storm. Classmates Jill Beglin and Laia Barro will be competing as individuals.
St. John's will tee off in an 8 a.m. shotgun start on the par-72, 5,907-yard course and will be joined by Boston College, the University of Evansville, Morehead State University, University of North Carolina Greensboro, Rutgers, Western Carolina University and Western Illinois.
Pinehurst has been home to competitive women's golf since the first Women's North & South Amateur in 1903. With champions that include the greatest players in the history of the women's game – Babe Zaharias, Peggy Kirk Bell, Yani Tseng, Morgan Pressel and Michelle Wie among them – the tradition of the North & South, the U.S. Women's Amateur and the U.S. Women's Open will continue with Pinehurst's Women's Intercollegiate Championship.
Live stats will be available via GolfStat.com and final results will be posted to RedStormSports.com each day.
