St. John’s Travels to Seton Hall on Thursday Evening

The Johnnies and the Pirates will kick off at 6 p.m.
The St. John's women's soccer team will wrap up its four-game road stretch on Thursday evening when the team travels to South Orange, N.J., for a 6 p.m. meeting with BIG EAST foe Seton Hall.
Thursday's contest with the Pirates will be available to live stream at shupirates.com.
Having already defeated Seton Hall (1-6, 0-6 BIG EAST), 2-1, on March 7 at Belson Stadium, the Red Storm (5-2-1, 2-2-1 BIG EAST) is looking to complete the season sweep of the Pirates. Meeting on Thursday for the 27th time in a series history that dates back to 1994, the Red Storm is 20-5-1 all time, and has won the last nine meetings between the two programs.
In the two team's first meeting of the year, senior Zsani Kajan scored six minutes into the first overtime period to lift St. John's to victory. Classmate Maia Cabrera, who netted the equalizer in the 43rd minute for the Johnnies, assisted on Kajan's golden goal. Rookie Nicole Multer picked up the second assist on the score. As a team, St. John's outshot the Pirates by a 12-4 margin with five attempts on goal.
St. John's enters Thursday's contest after playing Villanova to a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon. Kajan and Ava Collins scored the goals for St. John's, striking in the 53rd and 83rd minutes, respectively. The goal for Kajan marked her third of the year and the 27th of her Red Storm career. Collins, the rookie from Auckland, New Zealand, found the back of the net for the second time this season, forcing overtime with the equalizer. The duo of Kajan and Collins both assisted on each other's goals, to finish with a game-high three points each.
Collins and Kajan were both recognized by the conference for their efforts on Monday, as Collins earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, while Kajan found a spot on the league's weekly honor roll.
Seton Hall enters Thursday's contest with a record of 1-6 and 0-6 in BIG EAST games. The Pirates most recent loss came to No. 15/21 Georgetown on Sunday by a score of 3-0. Seton Hall's lone win of the season came against Saint Joseph's, 2-1, in the team's first contest of the 2021 campaign on Feb. 25.
The Pirates' four goals this season have come from two different players, as Cassy Harrigan leads the team in scoring with three goals this year. Laura Hooper registered her only score of the season against St. John's on March 7. Grace Gordon has served as the Pirates' primary goalkeeper this year, making 32 saves through seven games.
Following Thursday's matchup with the Pirates, St. John's returns home to Queens on March 28 for a 2 p.m. meeting with Connecticut.
