St. John's to Compete in the Wildcat Spring Invitational

The Johnnies will tee off at 9:30 a.m.
Coming off back-to-back team titles at the Red Storm Invitational and the Red Storm Dual Match, the St. John's men's golf team will look to continue its winning ways at the Wildcat Spring Invitational April 12-13.

The 36-hole event will consist of 18 holes over two days at the par-70, 6,572-yard course. The Johnnies will tee off at 9:30 a.m. on Monday in the opening round.

Junior Jack Simon, who enters the event on the heels of his first individual title of the season, is slotted as the team's number one golfer. The Sparta, N.J., native is coming off a stellar week as he finished inside the top-20 in a trio of events for the Red Storm, including two top-three efforts. Simon's week was highlighted by a first-place finish at the Red Storm Dual Match, as he turned in a score of 1-under 71. As a result of his efforts, Simon was named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.

Sophomore Alex Kyriacou, who claimed his second individual title of the season at the Red Storm Invitational on Monday, will enter the event as the number two golfer. Freshman Doug Beney and sophomore Gage Wolfle are slotted in the third and fourth positions. Junior Tyler Gerbavsits and sophomore Ryan Rittberger will round out the six-man lineup for the Red Storm.

The 15-team field will include host school Villanova along with St. John's, Fordham, Binghamton, Colgate, Canisius, Rider, Bucknell, Temple, University of Delaware, Drexel, St. Joseph's, Lehigh, La Salle and Lafayette.
