St. John’s Heads to Penn Invite

Men’s Tennis will open its season in Philadelphia
QUEENS, N.Y. (Sept. 16)- The St. John's men's tennis team will travel to the Penn Invite this weekend, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania to begin its 2021-22 season.
The Penn Invite is a three-day tournament to be held at the Hamlin Tennis Center. The Red Storm will play one match each day. They will open against the hosts Penn, then face off vs. Drexel on Saturday and close out the tournament with Big Ten opponent Penn State. Cornell, Temple and Georgetown are also slated to compete in the event.
"The guys are looking forward to playing their first event this year," fourth-year head coach Dillon Pottish said. "I'm excited to watch the new players as well as the returners."
During the spring 2021 season, St. John's finished runner-up in the BIG EAST and posted an impressive overall record of 16-2. Key performers Giuseppe De Camelis, Evan Felcher and Ignacio Garcia who combined for an overall singles record of 40-3 last season, are all back on the court for the Johnnies this year.
