Men’s Golf Continues Fall Season at Match Play by the Bay

The two teams will tee off at 10 a.m. at Naval Academy Golf Club
The St. John's men's golf team continues its fall slate on Sunday with a trip to Annapolis, Md., for Match Play by the Bay hosted by Navy.
The 18-hole event will take place at the Naval Academy Golf Club. St. John's and Navy are set for a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
Jack Simon, who led St. John's at The Doc Gimmler last weekend, will enter match play as the team's number one golfer. The Sparta, N.J., native signed off on a three-round 2-under 208 to finish in a tie for third at the Johnnies' lone home event of the fall.
Junior Ryan Rittberger and senior Tyler Gerbavsits are slotted in the second and third positions. Rittberger also finished inside the top-10 at The Doc Gimmler, signing off on a three-round 211. Gerbavsits tied teammate Doug Beney, who is playing in the number five slot on Sunday, for 14th overall in the standings, shooting a 213 over 54 holes.
Junior Gage Wolfle and freshman Peicheng Chen will round out the Red Storm's lineup. Wolfle also finished inside the top-20 in St. John's last event, shooting a 214 over two days. The Sewell, N.J., native saw his best effort come in the opening round, as he drained seven birdies for a career best 6-under 64. Chen finished five strokes back of Wolfle, shooting a 219 over three rounds.
