The St. John's women's golf team kicks off its 2021 fall season on Saturday at the Princeton Invitational.
The Johnnies are coming off a strong 2021 spring campaign, that saw the program record a trio of team titles. In addition to their success on the course, the Johnnies saw all seven golfers earn a spot on the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, while checking in at no. 21 on the WGCA academic top-25 list.
Head Coach Ambry Bishop-Santillo returns her top golfer from a season ago in Angelica Kusnowo. The Chino Hills, Calif., native will look to build upon her freshman season that saw her earn four top-10 finishes before claiming a spot on the All-BIG EAST Team.
Cloe Clocchiatti, a junior from Padua, Italy, enters the Red Storm's first tournament of the fall slate as the team's number one golfer. Teammates Jessie Kweon and Kusnowo are slotted as the number two and number three golfers, while freshman Karen Beglin and graduate student Andrea Sanchez round out the Red Storm's lineup.
Junior Laia Barro is set to compete as an individual in Princeton's event.
In addition to St. John's, the 12-team field will include host school Princeton as well as Seton Hall, Yale, Georgetown, Pennsylvania, Columbia, Harvard, St. John's, Dartmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, University at Albany and Rollins.
The tournament format calls for 36 holes Saturday and the final 18 Sunday. The Johnnies will tee off at 9 a.m. both days on the par 72 6,134-yard course.
Following its event at Princeton, the Red Storm will return to action Oct. 11-12, as the Johnnies travel to Wallingford, Conn., for the Quinnipiac Classic.
