St. John’s Closes Out Day One of the Princeton Invitational

Angelica Kusnowo leads the way for St. John’s after 36 holes
The St. John's women's golf team finished day one of the Princeton Invitational, posting a 36-hole total of 606 to rank ninth in the standings at Springdale Golf Club on Saturday.
Host school Princeton paced the field with a two-round 8-under 568 to sit 15-strokes clear of second place Seton Hall. The Tigers Tiffany Kong holds the individual lead, shooting a 7-under 137 on the day.
Leading the way for St. John's is Chino Hills, Calif., native Angelica Kusnowo, who is tied for sixth following day one of the event. The sophomore drained a combined six birdies to sign off on a two-round 1-over 145. Kusnowo saw her best performance come in round two, as she used a bogey-free back nine to finish at 1-under 71.
Senior Jessie Kweon wraps up day one just three strokes back of Kusnowo, shooting a 4-over 148 to sit in a nine-way tie for 18th place. Kweon jumped out to a hot start, firing off five birdies for a score of 2-under 70 after the first 18 holes.
Juniors Cloe Clocchiatti and Laia Barro, who is competing as an individual, both shot a 154 on the afternoon.
Freshman Karen Beglin and graduate student Andrea Sanchez rounded out scoring for the Red Storm, shooting a 160 and 165, respectively.
The Red Storm will return to the Springdale Golf Course tomorrow morning for the final round of play. All teams are set to tee off at 9 a.m. in a shotgun start.
