Men’s Golf Wraps up Action at Wildcat Fall Invitational

Simon and Wolfle lead the way for St. John’s
The St. John's men's golf team completed play at the Wildcat Fall Invitational on Tuesday, placing eighth overall in the standings.
St. John's senior Jack Simon and junior Gage Wolfle led the way for the Red Storm, both finishing inside the top-25. Simon shot a personal-best 72 over the final 18 holes. The Sparta, N.J., native's low-round effort was highlighted by a pair of birdies on the par-5 10th and par-4 13th holes. Wolfle fired off three birdies on the afternoon to sign off on a final-round 74.
Senior Tyler Gerbavsits finished one stroke back of Simon and Wolfle with scores of 76-75-73-224.
Freshman Thomas Stafford rounded out scoring for the Red Storm, signing off on a 74-78-80-232 at the 54-hole event.
Roberto Nieves of Delaware claimed medalist honors for the weekend, carding a three-round 6-under 204. Drexel earned the team title posting a 6-over 846.
The Johnnies will return to action on Oct. 3-5, traveling to Hampden, Mass., for the UConn Invitational at Greathorse.
