Women’s Basketball to Face Marquette at Home

The Red Storm welcomes the Golden Eagles for a game on Sunday
QUEENS, N.Y. (Jan. 29, 2022) – The St. John's women's basketball team hosts Marquette at Carnesecca Arena for a BIG EAST showdown on Sunday afternoon.
Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Matt Ambrose and Mike Watts on the call. Meghan Caffrey will serve as the sideline reporter.
The Red Storm (6-13, 2-7 BIG EAST) comes into the contest after a tough 94-88 loss at DePaul on Friday night. St. John's shot 52.9 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Five Johnnies scored in double figures during the loss as Kadaja Bailey led the squad with 24 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double. Danielle Patterson recorded a career-high 20 points while Unique Drake tallied 16 during the loss to the Blue Demons. Leilani Correa and Camree Clegg rounded out the Johnnies' top scorers, chipping in 10 points each.
Marquette enters the contest at fourth in the league standings with a 14-5 overall record and a 7-3 mark in conference play. The Golden Eagles are riding a three-game winning streak entering the weekend, most recently defeating Seton Hall 62-43.
As a team, the Golden Eagles are averaging 66.8 points while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor this season. Lauren Van Kleunen leads the team in points with 13.8 per game. Liza Karlen tops the team with 6.8 rebounds er game.
Marquette holds the 18-10 advantage all-time against the Johnnies. St. John's last topped the Golden Eagles, 81-74, on Feb. 15, 2019 when the Golden Eagles were ranked seventh in the nation.
