Red Storm duo earns weekly recognition following 1-0-1 week
NEW YORK – St. John's women's soccer's Brooke Boyd and Molly Feighan were named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.
Boyd helped the Johnnies to a 1-0-1 week as she played all 180 minutes for the Red and White. The graduate student tallied a header with nine seconds remaining in the Red Storm's match against Creighton, savaging a 1-1 draw with the Bluejays. Boyd anchored the Johnnie defense on Sunday, helping the team to a 1-0 win at Providence white limiting the Friars to just one shot on target.
Feighan provided a much-needed spark for the Red Storm offense as she came off the bench to record the game-winning goal during Sunday's match at Providence. The triumph over the Friars marked the first road victory for St. John's this season. The game-winning tally was also Feighan's first in the Red and White.
Boyd and Feighan earned their first league recognition this season. Jessica Garziano, Michelle Money and Gina Muzi received the distinction earlier this year.
St. John's hits the road for a battle with Butler at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl on Thursday afternoon. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m. and will air on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
