St. John’s to Host No. 22 Xavier on Sunday

Red Storm looks to extend its winning streak with match against ranked Musketeers
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's soccer team welcomes No. 22 Xavier to Belson Stadium for a match on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m. and will air on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Matt Ambrose on the call.
The Red Storm returns home following a pair of road victories. In their most recent win, the Johnnies triumphed over Butler, 3-1, at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl on Thursday. Despite the Bulldogs holding the early 1-0 edge, St. John's tallied three unanswered goals to come out on top. Jessica Garziano, Ava Collins and Nicole Gordon found the back of the net during the road win. Melina Couzis and Molly Feighan earned a pair of assists each.
In the Johnnies' 1-0 win at Providence, Feighan notched the game-winner with Emily Riggins and Isabelle Aviza posting assists on the play.
Garziano paces the Red Storm squad with 11 points this year. The Melville, N.Y., native's five helpers are a league best.
During the 2022 campaign, 10 different Johnnie players have found the back of the net with the trio of Garziano, Gordon and Collins leading the way. In conference play alone, Aviza paces the Red Storm squad with a pair of tallies against BIG EAST opponents.
Gina Muzi has seen a majority of the action between the pipes this season as she's started all 15 matches for the Red Storm. The Delafield, Wis., native has allowed just 11 goals while tallying 35 stops and five shutouts during her senior campaign. In conference play, the senior keeper has made 13 saves while allowing four goals
Xavier comes into the contest at 11-2-2 and undefeated in conference play, holding a 5-0-1 mark. The Musketeers' lone draw during league action came against No. 17 Georgetown on October 6.
Maria Gallery has played every minute in goal for Xavier, making 40 saves while allowing just 10 goals during her 15 matches. Molly McLaughlin paces the Musketeer squad with 10 points. The midfielder's four goals are a team-high while Rachel Dewey boasts a team-best four helpers.

Last season, St. John's went 1-1 against Xavier, dethroning the top-seeded Musketeers in the BIG EAST Tournament, 1-0, on their home field.
