St. John’s Welcomes Creighton for Thursday Night Showdown

Johnnies face off against Bluejays at 7 p.m.
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's soccer team returns to the Belson Stadium for a conference contest against Creighton on Thursday night. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. and will air on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Ralph Bednarczyk on the call.
The Red Storm fell to Villanova, 1-0, during its last conference outing. Villanova's Brigid Malloy posted the game-winning tally in the 55th minute for her first goal of the year
Gina Muzi earned the start between the pipes, and the senior logged two saves while allowing just her second goal during league action. Jessica Garziano tallied three shots for the Johnnies while Brooke Boyd and Jailene DeJesus notched one shot each during the road loss.
Through 12 games this year, nine different St. John's players have found the back of the net for the Red and White. Isabelle Aviza, Ava Collins, Nicole Gordon and Garziano each have logged two goals. Garziano paces the Red Storm squad with four assists and eight total points. The senior's mark of four helpers currently ranks tied for first in the BIG EAST.
Muzi has made all 12 starts in goal for the Johnnies, as the netminder has allowed nine goals while making 31 stops. The senior's 0.78 goals against average ranks fourth in the league while her .775 save percentage places the Delafield, Wis., native in fifth. Muzi is also tied for second in the BIG EAST with five shutouts this year.
The Red Storm return to Queens with a 5-4-3 overall record and a 2-2-0 mark in league play. The teams post a 5-1 record at home, including victories in its last four matches at Belson Stadium.
Creighton enters Thursday's match at 6-2-4 on the year while holding a 2-2 BIG EAST record. The Bluejays lone road victory came in conference play when the team blanked Marquette, 2-0, in Milwaukee. Creighton followed the performance by shutting out Providence, 2-0, in Omaha, Neb.
Jenny Grisson paces the Bluejay offense with three goals this season. Hannah Luke and Ariana Mondiri post six points so far this year, tying Grisson, as the duo has notched two goals and two assists apiece. Keelan Terrell has played every minute in goal for Creighton. The reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week mas made 33 stops while allowing just 11 goals during her senior campaign.
