Junior midfielder will join the New Zealand National Team during the next FIFA window
QUEENS, N.Y.- For the fifth time this year, Ava Collins has been selected to play for the New Zealand National Team in the next FIFA window of competition from Nov. 7-15.
Â
This marks the third time Collins has received the call-up to the senior team this season after being previously selected to the squad for the SheBelieves Cup in February and for the April FIFA window.Â
Â
During her junior campaign, Collins played in 17 matches for the Johnnies, making 15 starts. She tallied three goals and two assists, including a helper on Isabelle Aviza's game-tying score against Connecticut on Oct. 30.  Collins earned an honorable mention on TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week on Wednesday.Â
Â
During her sophomore season, Collins appeared in 20 matches. She tallied four goals on the year, including the game-winner against Brown in extra-time during the Johnnies' opening match of the NCAA tournament.
Â
As a freshman, the midfielder played in all 12 matches, starting in 11. Collins landed a spot on the All-BIG EAST Freshman team and found a place on the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team. She checked in at no. 32 on the TopDrawerSoccer Postseason top-100 freshmen list and no. 55 on the midseason's top-100 freshmen list. The Auckland, New Zealand, native paced the St. John's squad in assists, as she posted five helpers, which ranked tied for third in the BIG EAST.
Â
Collins will join 23 other players on the Football Ferns roster and is one of two collegiate players to make the squad along with Arizona State's Gabi Rennie.Â
