St. John’s Drops Sunday Contest to Stetson, 5-2

Red Storm will continue its trip to Florida at FGCU on Tuesday
DELAND, Fla. - The St. John's women's tennis fell to Stetson on Sunday morning, 5-2, at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
In doubles play, the Johnnies top duos pulled through once again to go ahead 1-0. Yesica de Lucas and and Jayden Nielsen defeated Stetson's Cheri Darley and Nadejda Masolva, 6-3. After St. John's dropped the second doubles match, Mouna Bouzgarrou and Lalita Devarakonda clinched a 6-3 win over the Hatters Alanna DiFrancesco and Elodi Foster.
In singles competition Stetson won five of six matches to seal a home win. Bouzgarrou tallied the lone individul win for the Red Storm. The senior logged another victory on the no. 1 court beating Stetson's Maslova in straight sets. The Hatters move to 8-1 on the year, while St. John's drops to 5-4.
The Johnnies will make their way to face Florida Gulf Coast for the finale of their Florida trip on Tuesday. The contest will commence at 10 a.m in Fort Myers, Fla.
