Red Storm Readies for BIG EAST Match Play

Men’s golf will begin its spring slate on Monday
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's golf team will kick off its spring schedule this week in West Palm Beach at The BIG EAST Match Play Championship.
The event, which will be held on Monday and Tuesday, will take place at Bear Lakes Country Club.
"We are very excited to participate in the BIG EAST match play," said men's golf head coach Mal Galletta. "We are in good form had a good few days of practice, and will be ready for the matches."
The Johnnies join five other teams at the event including Seton Hall, Connecticut, Creighton, Butler and Sacred Heart.
Galletta's lineup consists of Peicheng Chen in the one slot followed by Jack Simon and Tyler Gerbavsits in the two and three spots, respectively. Representing slot four will be Gage Wolfle followed by Ryan Rittberger in the fifth spot and Doug Beney rounding out the team. During the fall slate, Chen was named the BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week following a second-place finish at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, Chen's first collegiate event.
"It will be a couple of great days," said Galletta. "We are very grateful for Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach for hosting this event. It's a tremendous championship course and a great venue."
Live scoring will be available via GolfStat and all results will be posted to RedStormSports.com at the conclusion of each day.
