St. John’s Competes at Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge

The Red Storm notched several top-five finishes against top competition
NEW YORK- The St. John's track and field team competed in seven events against some of the best student-athletes in the nation at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge. The Red Storm finished 15th as a team at the Armory over the weekend.
Reigning BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week Leah Anderson continued her impressive indoor season with several top-three finishes. The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native notched her third straight win in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.89. Anderson also competed in the invitational 400-meter dash, finishing in third with a time of 55.16.
In the college section of the 400-meter dash, Skyy Diop and Avon Samuels posted strong results. Diop grabbed fifth place with a time of 56.25 while Samuels finished in 10th with a time of 56.38.
In the jumping events, Amanda Belgrave recorded a new personal-best in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 11.63 meters.
Samantha Morillo recorded a toss of 15.70 meters to earn a season-best distance in the weight throw.
The Johnnies will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 11 when it returns to The Armory to take part in the Rutgers Invitational.
