Red Storm win all nine possible matches in dominant home victory
QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's team engineered a dominant 7-0 victory over local opponent St. Francis Brooklyn at the USTA National Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
St. John's won all three doubles matches and each of the six singles matches to follow for the sweep. Two Johnnies Jayden Nielsen and Willa Bay Breunich didn't surrender a single game in their respective matches, both earning 6-0, 6-0 victories. Nielsen now moves to a perfect 4-0 in singles play on the year.
In doubles play, Nielsen and Yesica de Lucas dominated the Terriers top pair Ekaterina Bremel and Yeva Baziv, 6-0. Emilie Haakansson and Mouna Bouzgarrou stayed a perfect 4-0, notching a 6-3 win over SFC's Julia Vavarigos and Angelica Karlsson Hantzis.
The Johnnies sights now turn towards another Big Ten foe in Maryland. The Red Storm will face the Terrapins in College Park, Md. on Saturday.
