St. John’s Moves Past Fairfield, 6-1

Five Johnnies record singles wins at the USTA National Tennis Center
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's women's tennis team grabbed a win in its return home on Friday over Fairfield, 6-1.
Lalita Devarakonda, Jayden Nielsen, Willa Bay Breunich, Emilie Haakansson and Yesica de Lucas all tallied straight set singles victories at the USTA National Tennis Center.
The Red Storm (7-5) logged the doubles point after a pair of wins from new duos. Camila Ordonez and Devarakonda defeated the Stags Laina Campos and Paulina Bakaite, 6-1. Haakansson and Breunich clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 decision over Fairfield's Katarina Plumtree and Sandra Bozinovic.
Devarakonda continued her dominant stretch with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 over Plumtree. de Lucas put on a strong performance on the no. 4 court, as she notched a 6-1, 6-3 victory against the Stags Scarlett Hutchinson.
The Johnnies will open BIG EAST play on Friday when they host Seton Hall at the USTA National Tennis Center.
