Red Storm Collects Multiple Wins at Penn Challenge

Ysaac and Belgrave each pick up a victory to open the outdoor season
PHILADELPHIA- The St. John's track and field team got its outdoor season off to a solid start on Saturday at the Penn Challenge at Franklin Field.
Zamira Ysaac and Amanda Belgrave each picked up an individual victory in the 400-meter hurdles and the triple jump, respectively. Ysaac turned in a time of 1:04.55 to secure the win, and Belgrave reached a distance of 11.64 meters to take the top spot. Ysaac's win marked the first of the season while Belgrave picked up her second win of the track campaign to go along with her long jump triumph at the Villanova Indoor Meet on Jan. 2022.
Elsewhere on the track, Claire Cushing turned in a solid performance in the 800-meter run, finishing in second with a time of 2:18.71. Both Dolcé McPherson and Malia Jones finished in the top 10 in the 400-meter dash with times of 59.67 and 1:00.95, respectively.
In the throwing events, Lasma Padedze captured third place in the discus throw with a toss of 43.85 meters while Olivia Pantale finished in eighth at 39.38 meters. Nina D'Amato grabbed sixth place in the javelin throw, reaching 39.18 meters.
The Red Storm will be back in action next Saturday when it travels to Florida to compete in the Hurricane Invitational.
