St. John’s Travels to Miami for Hurricane Invitational

Leah Anderson will make her outdoor season debut
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's track and field team will travel to the Sunshine State to take part in the Hurricane Invitational. The meet will start with the men's and women's javelin tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
After being named BIG EAST Most Outstanding Performer and High Point Performer at the conference's indoor championships, Leah Anderson is set to make her outdoor season debut against some of the best in the country. The senior out of Mount Vernon, N.Y., will compete in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes in her opening meet of the outdoor campaign.
Like Anderson, Skyy Diop will also race for the first time this outdoor season in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. At the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, Diop captured a silver medal in the 400 meters with a time of 54.25.
Tatyana McKenzie and Brooklyn Chestnut are set to face the outdoor elements for the first time. Both sprinters are coming off strong finishes to the indoor season as both McKenzie and Chestnut secured bronze medals in the 60-meter and 200-meters dashes, respectively. Chestnut will race in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes while McKenzie will compete in the 200-meter and 400-meter events. Anderson, Diop, Chestnut and McKenzie will team up to participate in the 4x100-meter relay.
Amanda Belgrave will look for a second win in a row after taking home a victory in the triple jump last week at the Penn Challenge. The senior will compete in both the long jump and the triple jump.
