St. John’s Prepares for Three Matches This Weekend

Red Storm to face Villanova, Hofstra and Binghamton
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's women's tennis team looks to extend its five-match winning streak when the team faces Villanova, Hofstra and Binghamton this weekend.
The Red Storm will begin the weekend with another BIG EAST battle when it hosts Villanova this Friday at 12 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center. The Johnnies will hit the road for a doubleheader on Sunday with matches at Hofstra University (2-7) at 12 p.m. and against Binghamton University (0-17) at 3 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y.
St. John's is off to a 3-0 start in conference play, tallying decisive wins over Seton Hall, Georgetown and Connecticut. For the second straight week, Mouna Bouzgarrou was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. The senior has won four of her last five matches, all on the top court.
Villanova travels to Queens with a 2-5 overall record and logged a 4-3 win over Seton Hall to start conference play. Friday will mark the ninth-straight season the two programs have met on the court.
For the first time since 2018, the Johnnies will take on nearby foe Hofstra. In its last meeting, the Red Storm moved past the Pride, 5-2, on March 4, 2018. The last time St. John's met Binghamton on Feb. 10, 2019, the Johnnies took down the Bearcats 4-1 at Cunningham Park in Queens.
