St. John’s Gears Up for Larry Ellis Invitational

Red Storm will travel to Princeton for the second time this season
QUEENS, N.Y.- After a successful pair of meets last weekend, the St. John's women's track and field team will hit the road once again and travel to Princeton, N.J., to participate in the Larry Ellis Invitational. The two-day meet will start on Friday afternoon with the women's hammer throw.
Reigning BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week Leah Anderson will make her season debut in the 100-meter dash. Anderson last competed in the event at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships on April 9, 2021, taking first with a time of 11.79, a personal best. The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native will also anchor the 4x100-meter relay team and run the second leg in the 4x400-meter relay. Anderson has finished second or better in every relay race she has competed in this outdoor season.
Skyy Diop enters this weekend's meet after a stellar showing at Hurricane Alumni Invitational, finishing third and seventh in the 400-meter and 200-meter dashes respectively. Diop will join Anderson in the 100-meter dash along with the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. Rounding out the sprinters, Brooklyn Chestnut, Tatyana Mckenzie and Dolcé McPherson are poised to make their mark against some of the best athletes in the northeast.
Esmaralda Reyes continues to impress in the javelin throw this season, winning in two straight meets. The senior will look to extend her streak to three in Princeton. Another thrower with strong results, Lasma Padedze has yet to finish worse than fourth in any event she has participated in this outdoor season. In her last trip to Princeton, Padedze grabbed second in both the discus and shot put throws, respectively.
In the hurdles, Zamira Ysaac has huge lift for the Red Storm, recording a finish of fsixth place or better in every 400-meter hurdles race this season. Joining Ysaac will be Mandana Vouillemin and Kayla Parker. Vouillemin posted a new personal best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.14 at the Metropolitan Championships while Parker grabbed 10thplace with a time of 1:13.63 in the same event.
