Women’s Golf Gets Set for BIG EAST Championship

The Red Storm heads to Pine Mountain, Ga. for the conference tournament
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's golf team prepares for the 2022 BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship presented by JEEP. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played at the Mountain View Course at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.
Six BIG EAST schools will battle for the conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament- Butler, Creighton, Georgetown, St. John's, Seton Hall and Xavier. The St. John's line-up will include Angelica Kusnowo, Cloe Clocchiatti, Jessie Kweon, Andrea Sanchez and Karen Beglin. Junior Laia Barro will serve as the alternate.
The fourth-seeded Red Storm squad showed promise during the regular season, taking home the team title at the Hartford Invitational this spring and placing second at the Quinnipiac Classic in the fall. At last year's BIG EAST Championship, the Johnnies came in fourth place, while Xavier earned its second-straight team title.
Kweon was the top finisher for St. John's at the conference championship a year ago, placing tied for 11th place. The Little Neck, N.Y., native won the individual title at the Hartford Invitational this season and was named the BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week on April 13.
Thursday's first-round groupings will be determined by team and player seedings, while Friday's and Saturday's groupings are assembled from the previous day's leaderboard. The BIG EAST competition is scheduled to begin each day at 8 a.m. Results from the tournament can be found on GolfStat.com.
