St. John’s Competes at BIG EAST Championship

Jessie Kweon sits in fifth place after 36 holes
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The St. John's women's golf team concluded the second round of the BIG EAST Championship at the Mountain View Course at Callaway Gardens on Friday. The Red Storm sits in sixth place as the squad finished with a combined 310 for the day and 616 for the tournament.
Reigning BIG EAST champions Xavier once again closed out the day as the leaders in the clubhouse as the team shot 293 in the second round for a total of 582 through 36 holes. Georgetown sits in second with a two-day total of 591 while Creighton comes in third, sitting 10 strokes behind the Hoyas.
Jessie Kweon posted an impressive five birdies during her second round and signed off on an even-par 72 for the second round. The senior sits in fifth with a combined score of 144 as she heads into the final day of competition just four strokes behind the leader.
Rookie Karen Beglin posted a 78 for the second-straight day. The freshman's 156 for the tournament locks the Carson City, Nev., native in a tie for 19th. Finishing two strokes behind Beglin and in 23rd place was Andrea Sanchez as the graduate student signed off on an 83 for a combined 158 for the tournament.
Cloe Clocchiatti improved on her performance from the day before as the sophomore carded a 79 for a combined 160 for the tournament. The Padua, Italy, native is tied for 25th at the event. Rounding out the Red Storm squad was Angelica Kusnowo, who came into the clubhouse with an 81 for the day and a total of 166 to place 30th.
