St. John’s Competes at Mark Young Invitational

Red Storm tallied 32 points to grab sixth place
NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The St. John's track and field team participated in 19 events at the Mark Young Invitational on the campus of Yale University on Saturday, collecting 32 cumulative points to finish in sixth place.
Meghan Ladd, Colette Metcalf and Berit Friedenbach dominated the pole vault event, finishing second, third and fourth, respectively. Ladd cleared the 3.42-meter bar while Metcalf and Friedenbach cleared the 3.12 and 2.97-meter bars, respectively.
On the track, Katherine Bruno put on a strong showing in the 800-meter run, taking fourth with a time of 2:17.32. Dolce McPherson secured ninth and 14th place in the 400-meter and 200-meter dashes, respectively. The freshman sprinter's 400-meter time of 59.26 is a season-best result. Rushellee Jones grabbed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.94.
In the throwing events, Olivia Pantale finished fourth in the discus throw with a toss of 38.77 meters. Nina D'Amato earned a fourth-place result in the javelin throw with a hurl of 34.32 meters.
The Red Storm will be back in action on Thursday when it travels to Philadelphia to participate in the prestigious Penn Relays.
